Astrophotography
The following are astronomical photos I have taken sorted by category.
Lunar
One of the first things we notice in the night sky is Luna, the Earth’s satellite. There’s an endless number of lunar variations to be photographed as the moon wanes and waxes, lunar and solar eclipses, weather interference, etc.
Planetary
Other than the Moon, our nearest astronomically neighbours!
Solar
I haven’t done a lot of solar photography yet, but I’ve done a few.
Messier Objects
A list of 110 objects originally catalogued in the 18th century by Charles Messier. My goal is to photographically document all 110 Messier objects.
NGC Objects
The New General Catalogue lists 7840 objects of various types, including galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. These tend to be “smaller” and more faint than the Messier objects, and thus more difficult to capture photographically.
Comets
Very occasional visitors to earth. I’ve got very little in this category, but hopeful for more.
Milky Way
Self explanatory!
Other
Odds and ends that don’t fit anywhere else!
